Description

La Dolce Vita (Cineriz, 1960). Italian 4 - Fogli (52.5" X 75"). Giorgio Olivetti Artwork.
Frederico Fellini's famed chronicle of a decadent society where no values exist except for the pursuit of personal pleasure starred Anita Ekberg and Marcello Mastroianni. The film could have had a very American presence. Original producer Dino DeLaurentis left the project because Fellini refused to cast Paul Newman in the male lead role. Other actors considered for roles included Henry Fonda, Luise Rainer, Burt Lancaster, Peter Ustinov, Walter Pidgeon, Barbara Stanwyck, Greer Garson and (for the French) Maurice Chevalier. The film won several major awards, including a Best Film BAFTA and a Golden Palm at Cannes. Named #6 on the Entertainment Weekly list of Greatest Films of All Time, it remains one of the most highly acclaimed European films of the 1960s. This country of origin poster has some staining in the lower border and image area, a few tears in the background and image with touchup, and some creasing. Some of the borders have been replaced, however, the lower border with credits is still intact. The upper right corner of the image shows signs of bubbling. Though backed onto linen, only minor restoration efforts have been made. Probably the best image of any paper for this title, with artwork by Giorgio Olivetti. Fine on Linen.
