DescriptionKing Kong (RKO, R-1938). Fine. Title Lobby Card (11" X 14").
King Kong remains a landmark in horror film-making history. Special effects master Willis O'Brien and his team achieved an absolute triumph in creating Kong, a creature that was both terrifying and sympathetic. Enhanced further by the beauty of Fay Wray, the panache of Robert Armstrong, and the heroism of Bruce Cabot, you have a film of true classic caliber, holding its own for more than 75 years. Paper from this legendary film is highly prized, and the lobby cards from its first reissue are no exception. Indications of usage include pinholes, small chips at the borders, faint stains, and thin dust shadows. Also visible is mild color fading as well as tears, including a tear through Robert Armstrong's image into the background. Light touchup has been applied to a few of the tears and pinholes, and there are several strips of cellophane and paper tape on the verso bracing tears.
Estimate: $1,000 - $2,000.
