    Description

    King Kong (RKO, 1933). Fine+ on Linen. Trimmed Full-Bleed Australian Pre-War Daybill (14" X 37").
An exciting first time presentation at Heritage, this exceptionally rare poster stands as the only known daybill to survive from King Kong's original Australian release. Considered by most as one of the greatest horror/fantasy films ever made, King Kong was certainly one of the most innovative. The stop motion animation created by Willis O'Brien set the standard for decades to follow. Starring Fay Wray as Ann Darrow, Robert Armstrong as Carl Denham, and Bruce Cabot as Jack Driscoll, the non-stop action thrilled audiences upon its initial release in 1933, and still continues to entertain today. Reminiscent of the U.S. three sheet with its striking image of Kong atop the Empire State Building, this full-bleed, stone litho beauty has had touchup applied to edge and fold wear, pinholes, light creases, and minor chips. Also corrected were a few moderate tears towards the edges. We believe the poster's imprint area at the top has been trimmed, however, this does not impinge on the daybill's iconic image, making it a much coveted item among collectors. Fine+ on Linen.
