Description

    Keystone Comedy (Keystone-Western Import Co., c. 1910s). Stock British One Sheet (30" X 40").
From its inception, Keystone consistently produced the best American comedies of early silent film. Under the direction of Mack Sennett, this is the studio that launched Charlie Chaplin's "The Little Tramp," the "Sennett Bathing Beauties" and between 1912 and 1917 the highly entertaining escapades of the "Keystone Cops." As early as 1914, Sennett shifted the Keystone Cops from starring roles to background ensemble, supporting comedians such as Chaplin, Fatty Arbuckle, Marie Dressler, Mabel Normand and Al St. John. This British stock one sheet features a brilliantly colored stone litho image of a lawman wielding a Keystone badge. Touchup was expertly applied to a chip in the top right corner/background, a tiny tear in the left border, and pinholes in three corners. Fine/Very Fine on Linen.
