Description

You Only Live Twice (United Artists, 1967). Folded, Very Fine+. Half Sheet (22" X 28"). Frank McCarthy and Robert McGinnis Artwork.
This fifth installment in the suave 007 film franchise was the last of the 1960s to star Sean Connery, who retired (only briefly) from the debonair role after continuous friction with producers Albert Broccoli and Harry Saltzman. Additionally, he had tired of the public fascination with him and obsessive fandom over the franchise. You Only Live Twice was adapted from the novel of the same name by Ian Fleming, the final of his Bond novels published in his lifetime, with several creative liberties taken by famed author Roald Dahl in one of his few screenplay efforts before coming to global prominence for his children's novels. This half sheet is in overall incredible condition, boasting only the most minimal wear such as light edge and fold wear, minor corner bends, soft creases, and a few unobtrusive smudges. Connery looks especially dashing in this rendering, handsomely smirking and looking directly ahead with a gun and astronaut helmet in hand, juxtaposed with another great interpretation of him seemingly defying gravity. Although the poster was originally folded, it will be shipped rolled. From The Estate of Russell Clarke Urich III.
