    Description

    Thunderball (United Artists, 1965). Poster (40" X 60").
S.P.E.C.T.R.E returns to menace James Bond in the superspy's fourth, and perhaps best, installment. The nefarious organization has hijacked a NATO nuclear bomber and threatens to detonate the explosives unless its ransom is met. Bond must stop mastermind Emilio Largo (Adolfo Celi) as well as fend off the attention of three ladies (Claudine Auger as a mistress, Martine Beswick as a fellow spy, and Luciana Paluzzi as an enemy agent), escape a deadly pool of sharks and resist the overpriced cocktails of the Bahamas. Robert McGinnis began a fruitful creative partnership with Frank McCarthy on this marketing campaign, and this McGinnis-designed poster displays all of the great Bond trademarks, with the film's underwater twist. Similar to the one sheet, but much grander in size and harder to find, this piece shows only minor signs of use: foxing in the top border, wrinkling, a tear in the bottom left border that extends into the background, small tears in the right border, and pinholes in the top border. Rolled, Fine/Very Fine.
