    Description

Thunderball (United Artists, 1965). Gilbert James Bond 007 Thunderball Road Race Set (34" X 51" Assembled).
A golden opportunity for James Bond fans to relive their childhood, this vintage slot car race set from the hit film,Thunderball, should require a license to thrill! Produced by the A. C. Gilbert company, and sold exclusively by Sears Roebuck, the set features six interlocking landscape sections, forming a track that wraps around lakes, goes over a mountain, and ventures through tunnels. Sharp curves and a high drop-off make taking James Bond's Aston Martin DB5, or the also included Ford Mustang Fast Back, for a spin all the more exciting. The majority of purchased sets were returned due to mechanical defects, and ultimately contributed to the fall of A.C. Gilbert. As a result, finding one in any sort of working condition is rare. Complete with the original box and assembly instructions, the set is in operating condition, though it could benefit from some conditioning. The original box shows expected wear, including dinged/slightly crushed corners and creasing. However, the front image of Sean Connery with the set displays quite well. Not to be missed by true James Bond enthusiasts. From the James Bond / Ian Fleming collection of Gary Firuta. Fine+.
