Description
Thunderball (United Artists, 1965). Full-Bleed British Quad (30" X 40") Advance Quad Crown Style, Frank McCarthy and Robert McGinnis Artwork. This extremely rare, highly sought after country-of-origin British quad will surely be the highlight of all Bond fans' attentions. Ian Fleming's agent 007 is at his most spectacular, with Sean Connery in his fourth, and some say best, performance as Bond. As seen on this advance quad, the non-stop action takes place in the air, on land, and at sea. Only a small number of copies still exist left uncut and this is the only poster from this film to use the artwork featured on the lower right side by Robert McGinnis. The two panels on the left hand side are by artist Frank McCarthy, while the two on the right right hand side are by Robert McGinnis. The poster was advertised in the British pressbook as the Quad Crown Poster as it was meant to be cut into double crown posters by the theater owner (there were no double crowns distributed for the promotions). Instead, the pressbook gives instructions to the theater manager to 'CUT' the teaser poster into pieces to make a variety of double crowns. A fine example of this hard to find piece, the quad has only had very light touchup applied at the fold, with no other work required for this fantastic poster. Very Fine+ on Linen.
