Thunderball: 007 Water Skis (AMF Voit, 1966). Fine-. Wooden Water Skis (2) (6.5" X 63").
It's Heritage's first time to offer these very rare 007 water skis from the sporting good manufacturer AMF Voit, who made several tie-in products for the James Bond espionage thriller Thunderball. As part of a product placement deal with the studio, AMF Voit exclusively supplied all of the watersport props for the film. For consumers, the company specifically promoted their Swimaster line of products, which included specially branded 007 fins, masks, exercise hand grips, and even a special "Snorkel-Blaster" that doubled as a breathing apparatus and a water gun. A follow-up to that product series, these skis could be ordered from the company's 1966 catalogue and it seems that very few were ever produced. These skis show such signs of use as surface wear, cracks, and weathering of the finish, particularly on the top of the skis where the varnish has been worn down. One of the skis is missing its heelpiece and fin. For the James Bond completist, a unique novelty item.
