    Description

Dr. No (United Artists, 1962). Fine/Very Fine on Linen. British Quad (30" X 40") Mitchell Hooks Artwork.
An item of the highest desirability for Bond fans, country of origin quads don't get any better than this vibrant poster form Dr. No's original British release. James Bond burst onto the big screen for the first time with this great adaptation of Ian Fleming's novel, bringing with him all of the signature elements that made the exploits of the debonair 007 a smash hit series: the exotic locales, the license to kill, the evil SPECTRE organization, ubiquitous martinis,"Bond" women, and fast cars. Sean Connery immortalizes the spy's suave style, Joseph Wiseman's evil mastermind Dr. No is a great start to the series' slew of formidable villains, and the bikini-clad Ursula Andress sets the bar high for any of the Bond girls to follow. By far one of the best posters for Bond's inaugural feature, and certainly superior to its American counterpart, artist Mitchell Hooks and designer David Chasman created an excellent image and trend-setting style in this poster. Stunning to behold in person, this quad has received professional restoration to edge and fold wear, pinholes, and small tears and chips in the borders and folds. The borders, red text, and much of the yellow background has been airbrushed. There are some unobtrusive post-restoration smudges, but Michael Hooks' iconic artwork is largely unaffected.
