    Jamaica Inn (Paramount, 1939). Pre-War Belgian (24" X 33.5").
A rare piece, this vibrant pre-war poster hails from Alfred Hitchcock's last British film before departing for America. Based upon Daphne du Maurier's first best selling novel, this early Hitchcock picture follows Maureen O'Hara as a young woman who moves in with her aunt and uncle, the owners of the decrepit Jamaica Inn. Charles Laughton stars as Sir Humphrey Pengallan, the villainous squire who leads a pack of shady smugglers that frequent the inn. There is slight touchup to the right of the title, and to a tear from the imprint area, through the "O" of "Laughton," to Emylyn William's credit with a paper lift on the verso. There was another tear to the right of Laughton's coat that had been repaired with tape on the verso that has since lifted off. There were two chips in the lower border, three small chips in the left border, and two small chips in the right border. The borders and imprint area have had a certain amount of airbrushing, but are not completely airbrushed. Fine/Very Fine on Linen.

    Estimate: $1,500 - $3,000.
