    Description

How to Marry a Millionaire by Enzo Nistri (20th Century Fox, 1953). Near Mint. Signed Original Italian Watercolor Maquette (9" X 13").
Marilyn Monroe dominated 1953 with three blockbuster films, Niagara, Gentlemen Prefer Blondes, and How to Marry a Millionaire. These three films laid the foundation for her legacy as one of the most desirable women in Hollywood and arguably, the world. To capitalize upon her rising star, Italian artist Enzo Nistri drew upon inspiration from the US pressbook of a "come hither" Monroe and created a beautiful watercolor rendering for the large Italian four-fogli format movie poster that excluded her co-stars Lauren Bacall and Betty Grable. This larger Italian format is highly desirable for its scarcity as well as it's subject matter. Offered here at Heritage for the first time is a maquette or preliminary artwork for that larger format. The artwork is in amazing condition with very minor smudging and a pinhole in the lower border attributed to the artistic process. The artwork has been signed in the lower left corner area. There is a protective sheet of tissue paper included. A fantastic item for any Marilyn Monroe fan!
