    Description

    Hotel for Women (20th Century Fox, 1939). One Sheet (27" X 41").
Famed artist McClelland Barclay left his mark on the American scene as few have done. His legendary "Body by Fisher" automobile ads and top magazine covers are avidly collected to this day, not only for their stylish auto and model artwork, but for their sheer artistry as well. Barclay's untimely death in a WWII naval battle in 1943 certainly left a hole in American film and advertising displays. (He even created paintings for war recruitment posters and camouflage designs!) This is one of his loveliest pin-up creations, a style in which he creatively excelled. It was Barclay who successfully launched Veronica Lake's peek-a-boo hairdo in his splendid one sheet design for I Wanted Wings. With precious few of these 1939 one sheets in existence in presentable form, this then becomes one of the best Barclay collectibles outside of an original painting. Beautifully linenbacked with some minimal restoration for just a few corner pinholes, small tears in the bottom border, and very small chips in three borders. Very Fine on Linen.
