DescriptionThe Wolf Man (Universal, 1941). Half Sheet (22" X 28").
Hollywood's second Lon Chaney carved out his cinematic niche in this Universal horror classic, finally shooting to stardom as the lycanthropic Larry Talbot after a decade of bit parts and uncredited roles. Although he had appeared in Man Made Monster just a year before under the stage name "Lon Chaney Jr.," it was during this film that he decided to drop the "Jr." and continue in his father's footsteps as the new "Man of a Thousand Faces." Under Jack Pierce's incredible makeup, Chaney became the greatest werewolf to ever appear on the silver screen. A scarce find that is certain to thrill horror buffs everywhere, this half sheet has undergone professional conservation to correct fold wear and extra vertical folds, pinholes, vertical creases, and some tears into the outer background. There were chips in the borders. A couple of tears with tape stains in Chaney's face have been skillfully repaired. The borders, title, and parts of the background have been airbrushed, giving the poster a neat finish. Fine on Paper.
Estimate: $10,000 - $20,000.
