    Description

    The Wolf Man (Universal, 1941). Folded, Fine/Very Fine. Insert (14" X 36").
Universal Studios was in dire financial troubles by the early 1940s, and though their wish was to remove themselves from the horror film cycle, wiser heads prevailed. They had made a pocketful of profits with the franchise, and they realized it was their only surefire money maker. Thus, they needed a new horror star, and Lon Chaney Jr. had proven himself up to the task. This film would become a big hit for the studio and revived the horror cycle for another ten years. Starring not only Chaney, but Claude Rains, Bela Lugosi, and Warren William, the film is a masterwork of eerie cinematography and a wonderful musical score. This beautiful insert is considered by most to be the very best format for the film! It is certainly the most rare. The poster has pinholes in the corners and a tear from the right border into the artwork up to the "S" in "Rains." There is a corner bend in the upper left corner and a small tear from the center of the upper border into the Wolf Man's head, as well as in the lower border into the art next to the brewing cauldron. There is some wear to the lower fold. Folded, Fine/Very Fine.
