    Description

    The Wolf Man (Universal, 1941). Fine+. Lobby Cards (2) (11" X 14").
A fateful bite from a werewolf has tragic consequences for Lawrence Talbot (Lon Chaney Jr.). He's cursed with lycanthropy and becomes a wolf himself when the moon is full. Universal was initially apprehensive about the public reception to a horror movie at the dawn of World War II, but this picture became one of their top grossers for 1942, and has remained one of the most popular films in their horror franchise. This lot includes two great cards, one of which depicts the final scene and features several of the film's key players including Claude Rains, Ralph Bellamy, Warren William, and Lon Chaney. Both cards have received varying degrees of restoration. The card showing the final scene has touchup to pinholes, and displays unaddressed slight creases, minor tears, as well as faint foxing. The other card has had partial touchup to mild edge wear, creases, a few tears into the background, and pinholes. Touchup has also been applied to some paper loss in the upper left corner, minor paper lift, and unobtrusive stains and smudging, including tape stains. The card has slight color fading. There are strips of linen adhered to the verso bracing a couple of tears and paper loss. Fine+.
