John Carpenter's The Thing redefined body horror, transforming John W. Campbell's novella Who Goes There? into a chilling tale of paranoia and survival in the frozen isolation of Antarctica. Following 1951's The Thing from Another World - a film that benefited from the uncredited direction of Howard Hawks, one of Carpenter's heroes - this version showcased groundbreaking effects by 21-year-old Rob Bottin and a commanding leading performance by Kurt Russell, cementing its place as both a horror and cult classic. Drew Struzan's unforgettable poster art captures the film's atmosphere of mistrust and terror, becoming as iconic as the movie itself. Rolled and never folded, this particular example displayed hardly any wear prior to linenbacking, with only minimal touchup applied to a handful of small creases.
