The Texas Chainsaw Massacre (C.1973). Very Fine+. (7) Color 35mm Film Negative Strips and (7) Black and White 35mm Film Negative Strips, (16) Color Transparency Slides, (1) Contact Sheet made from Color Negs and Original Japanese Program.
Tobe Hooper's breakthrough film has been declared a masterpiece of modern horror and has been enshrined in the Museum of Modern Art. But that kind of critical acclaim was not heard when the film was first released. In 1974, the film was a complete assault on the senses, startling audiences with images and sounds that were so horrific, that it became the first of the "Slasher" horror classics. It has been imitated, remade, had sequels and prequels created and nothing comes close to the sheer terror of the original. This amazing collection of original production stills have never been published before and comes from the collection of Edwin Neal, the actor who portrayed "The Hitchhiker." The photos include behind-the-scenes of the making of the film and they picture Director Tobe Hooper, Director of Photography Daniel Pearl, Soundman Ted Nicolaou, Make-Up Artist Dorothy Pearl, Art Director Robert Burns and many more. The photographer for many of these photos was Sallye Richardson, the Assistant Director and Editor of the film. Very Fine+.
