    Description

The Phantom of the Opera by Gaston Leroux (Grosset & Dunlap, 1925). Hardcover Photoplay Book & Hardcover Book (357 Pages, 5.25" X 7.5"). Horror.
Published after the smash hit success of the Universal film and Lon Chaney's gruesome yet sympathetic portrayal of the Phantom, this hardcover book contains not only Gaston Leroux's most famous novel, but also black and white shots of the film's most dramatic scenes and colored dust jacket artwork by Andre Castaigne. Also included is a hardcover copy of the first American edition of The Phantom of the Opera (Bobbs-Merrill, 1911), featuring additional color plates from Andre Castaigne. Unrestored books with good colors and overall very presentable appearances. They may show some edge and spine wear, mild cracking in the spine, light surface scuffs, minor stains, small tears, faint toning, or limited paper remnants. The Bobbs-Merrill edition is missing its dust jacket, and the dust jacket for the photoplay edition shows additional fold separation, dust shadows, tears, unobtrusive surface paper lifts, minor paper loss, and cellophane/paper tape on the verso. Please see full-color, enlargeable images above for more details. Overall Grade: Fine.
