Description
The Mummy (Universal, 1932). Lobby Card (11" X 14").This was Boris Karloff's second Universal horror starring role, following on the heels of his phenomenal success in Frankenstein. This time, Karloff appears as the Egyptian high priest Imhotep, who comes back to life after thousands of years when his tomb is disturbed. The masterful makeup skills of Jack Pierce are shown on this rare lobby card with two great images of Karloff, as the high priest as portrayed in the scene, and as the Mummy as seen in the border artwork. As shown In this wonderful card, Karloff is Imhotep, preparing to sacrifice Zita Johann to his Egyptian gods. Original posters and lobbies from this film are some of the scarcest and most beautiful in the Universal horror series and continue to set the pace for the rest of the posters in the horror field. This beautiful card has a pinhole and a pair of staple holes in three corners as well as a single pinhole in the upper right corner and a pair of staple holes within the image in the upper right hand side. There is a water stain in the upper right border and there are some paper lifts on the verso from tape removal. There are also four rubber stamps on the verso from a former owner. Other than some staining around a former tack placement in the upper left corner and a small stain in the upper center border, the card displays beautifully and would be a wonderful addition to the discriminating lobby card collector's holdings. From the Collection of Ron Moore. Very Fine-.
