Description
The Mummy's Ghost (Universal, 1944). Very Fine. Lobby Card (11" X 14").The Mummy's Ghost marked the fourth installment of the classic series from Universal Pictures. Lon Chaney Jr. endured being costumed under heavy mummy wrappings, a grueling process that left him physically exhausted and partially blinded during filming. Shot quickly on a modest budget, the film reused sets, footage, and music cues from earlier Universal horror entries, a common studio practice at the time. Despite being formulaic, it introduced a darker tone and ended with an unusually bleak finale for the era, with both monster and heroine perishing. It remains notable for blending ancient mysticism with modern anxieties and is considered a fan favorite among the later Universal Mummy sequels. There are a few tack or pinholes to the corners or in the borders, with one in 'the' of the title block, and another to the black coat of the man at right with a minute color loss. The corners are lightly bumped, and there is unobtrusive smudging in the borders.
