    Description

    The Mummy's Curse (Universal, 1944). Three Sheet (41" X 81").
Although this was the final sequel in Universal's Mummy series, and it was set 25 years after The Mummy's Ghost (which came out earlier in 1944), it was clearly contemporary to the 1940s and not what it "should" have been - somewhere in the 1990s if one calculates all of the timelines in the series. At the end of The Mummy's Ghost, Kharis (Lon Chaney Jr.) had taken his reincarnated Egyptian bride into a Massachusetts swamp and in this film emerged from a swamp in Louisiana -- a fine magic act if ever there was one. Even if the writers weren't following a coherent timeline and location setting, it didn't really matter, because the Mummy series was one of the most popular in the Universal Horror cycle. This would be the last time Chaney would portray the immortal Kharis and the studio captured his likeness with some of their best artwork on this amazing and extremely rare three sheet. There are small tears within Kharis' head and in a number of the other fold lines on the poster and these remain readily apparent as they were not touched up in linen backing. The poster has had some minor touchup to two small holes in Martin Kosleck's credit. Fine/Very Fine on Linen.
