Description

The Invisible Man (Universal, 1933). Danish One Sheet (24.5" X 33.5").
After monumental success with horror giants The Phantom of the Opera (1925), Frankenstein (1931), and Dracula (1931), Universal turned to another classic tale-- H.G. Wells' The Invisible Man, which master director James Whale adapted into another smash hit. It launched Claude Rains' career, and co-stars Gloria Stuart, with appearances by Dwight Frye, Walter Brennan, and John Carradine. Rains is superb as the doctor whose ability to become invisible has the terrifying side effect of slowly making him mad. This seminal film would spawn several sequels and imitations, but paper from the original film is always highly sought. It's Heritage's first time to offer this sensational Danish one sheet boasting artwork done in the illustrative style of Karoly Grosz, which has been backed on linen, but has had no further restoration. It still shows fold separation, some tearing and chips in the center vertical fold, and wear in the center horizontal fold with tears near the center of the image. There are pinholes in the corners, and small chips in the upper right and lower left corners. The poster shows bleedthrough in the "mf" of "Triumf" from an ink stamp on the verso. Fine/Very Fine on Linen.
