Description

The Bride of Frankenstein (Universal, 1935). Very Fine-. Title Lobby Card (11" X 14").
The acclaimed sequel to Frankenstein, The Bride of Frankenstein picks up where the original left off, with Dr. Frankenstein surviving and reluctantly persuaded by the sinister Dr. Pretorius to create a companion for the Monster. Boris Karloff reprises his iconic role as the Monster, now yearning not for vengeance, but for companionship and acceptance. When the Bride, portrayed by Elsa Lanchester, is finally brought to life, she recoils in terror at the sight of him. Devastated by her rejection, the Monster resolves to end the suffering of all involved, destroying himself, the Bride, and Pretorius in a hauntingly tragic climax. Masterfully blending horror, dark wit, and striking gothic imagery, the film is widely celebrated as one of the greatest achievements in cinematic horror. There are pinholes to each corner, light edge wear and corner bumps, a small surface loss to the top right corner, a minute stain in the left border, a few light scuffs and scratches. Additionally, there is a soft bend at the upper left corner, an Australian censor stamp in the bottom border and a small bit of smudging in the tag line at top. In 20 years, Heritage has only handled two examples of this rare card. Bid now, before it's gone!
