Description

Son of Kong (RKO, 1933). Very Fine- on Linen. Three Sheet (41" X 80"). Glenn Cravath Artwork.
Son of Kong was produced and released just 8 months after the original King Kong, making it one of the fastest sequels in Hollywood history. Willis O'Brien returned to create the stop-motion effects, this time animating the smaller, more nimble Little Kong, which allowed for expressive movements the original giant sometimes lacked. The film's lighter, more comedic tone was a deliberate choice to contrast the darker, and tragic story of King Kong. Many sets and props from the first film were reused to save on budget, and the soundtrack incorporated music cues from King Kong to maintain continuity. Rescued from the basement of a New York City Brownstone comes this fresh to market three-sheet with beautiful color, never previously offered for public sale. Backed to linen, there were small splits, chips and separations to some borders, folds and fold junctions. Talented restoration has addressed these issues with small areas of touch-up; and the borders have been airbrushed. It now presents wonderfully and will be a keystone in any collection. From the Robert and Carla Schenk Collection.
