Description

Nosferatu (Prana-Film, 1922). German Lobby Card (9" X 11.25") No. 5.
One of the masterpieces of horror film and the first great vampire film. When the film was released, Bram Stoker's widow sued, claiming the film was a plagiarism of her husband's novel Dracula. The court ruled in her favor and ordered that the negative and all existing prints and advertising paper be destroyed. But like the undead count himself, Nosferatu kept rising from the dead as an existing print made its way to the USA and was shown in art houses. To say that any existing paper from the original German (country of origin) Prana release exists, is nothing short of a miracle. But offered here is a single original German lobby card, No.5 from the original set. It depicts Hutter (Gustav von Wangenheim) leaving the house of his friend, shipbuilder Harding (Georg Schnell) after he has entrusted the care of his wife (Greta Schroder) to him. Hutter is about to begin his voyage to Count Orlock's castle. The card has slight edge wear and a small top left corner bend. Very Fine+
