    Description

King Kong (RKO, 1933). Title Lobby Card (11" X 14").
Although Universal Pictures had blazed the trail into the horror genre, RKO was close on their heels with films like The Most Dangerous Game. With the horror genre reaping huge profits at the box office, the studio was looking for a truly great entry into the genre. Enter Merian Cooper and Ernest Schoedsack, two filmmakers who had contracts with RKO. The two men had been impressed with Willis O'Brien's The Lost World and decided to create their own fantasy-adventure film utilizing the talents of the great stop-motion animator. The result was King Kong and the film would deliver not only the giant ape, but also the thrills of battling dinosaurs and man-eating spiders. The film became an instant sensation and would go on to become one of the greatest fantasy/ horror films ever made. This title card, like all other classic horror title cards, are among the most sought after collector's items within the movie poster hobby. Heritage is always proud to present the very scarce title card from this timeless classic in the pantheon of horror film greats. Professionally restored, this very bright card once had pinholes in the borders. There was staining in the image, some of which is still faintly visible at the bottom. The borders have been airbrushed, and the top and left borders were once trimmed to the edge of the background, but have been restored. Fine.
