Description
King Kong (RKO, 1933). Lobby Card (11" X 14")."Oh, no, it wasn't the airplanes. It was Beauty killed the Beast." No other image better encapsulates the film's final, most poignant line than this excellent shot of Skull Island's colossus hovering over the illustrious Fay Wray, a rare image of Kong outside of the monster's constant battles against humans and the island's prehistoric behemoths. Without a doubt, Merian C. Cooper and Ernest B. Schoedsack's brutal inversion of the classic fairytale carved its place in cinematic history with its thrilling action, terrifying story, and masterful use of special effects, and is now remembered as a monumental Hollywood classic. One of the rarest and most beautiful images of the set, this fantastic piece also boasts some of the brightest colors Heritage has ever seen among any of the original lobby cards to date. In wonderful condition, this item only shows light bends in the top left and bottom right corners, faint stains and smudging in the borders, and a small nick in the bottom border. There are a few pinholes in the borders with mild rust stains and a British censorship stamp below the title. Very Fine.
