Dark and disturbing, this insert captures the tone of this 1943 horror flick, directed by Jacques Tourneur. Producer Val Lewton thought the plot of an article that had been optioned, was too clichéd, so he adapted the story to fit the classic novel Jane Eyre instead. Frances Dee stars as a nurse in the West Indies caring for the wife (Christine Gordon) of the abusive Tom Conway. Dee attempts to use jungle voodoo to revive her patient, providing an unsettling, trance-like feel to film. This rare insert has been restored to address tears in the top border, title, and right border, a torn left corner, and fold wear. Folded, Fine/Very Fine.
