Frankenstein Meets the Wolf Man (Universal, 1943). Very Fine-. Half Sheet (22" X 28"). Karl Godwin Artwork.
A scarce find for horror collectors, this half sheet contains exactly what any genre fan would want out of the film: an exciting image of two of Universal's biggest monsters duking it out, courtesy of artist Karl Godwin. Lon Chaney Jr. once again fills the role of the reluctant lycanthrope, Larry Talbot, while Bela Lugosi trades in his vampire fangs for Frankenstein Monster's neck bolts, the first and only time he would play the role. In fact, Universal would create several versions of this Monster vs. Monster format up until 1948 with their horror/comedy picture, Abbott and Costello Meet Frankenstein. Considered to be one of the rarer poster formats made for this film's original release, the half sheet has had restoration applied to slight fold wear and separation, mild creases, pinholes, as well as a few tears that extended into the printing. The borders have been airbrushed, but show small post-restoration tears and a few minor chips. There are some small pieces of archival tape on the verso bracing a few tears and creases. The poster was once folded, however the folds were successfully pressed out during restoration and are barely visible on the front.
