    Description

    Frankenstein by Mary Wollstonecraft Shelley (Grosset & Dunlap, 1931). Hardcover Photoplay Book (244 Pages, 6" X 8.25"). Horror.
    Mary Shelley's novel was first published in 1818 anonymously and continued to be published over the years, until it was turned into a feature film by Universal Studios in 1931. Along with the release of the film, this special edition was published, including art on the dust jacket that was similar to the art used on the posters. The book also has seven black and white photo plates of scenes from the film including the incredible portrait of Boris Karloff in the early makeup used to turn him into the Monster. An unrestored book with good color and an overall very presentable appearance. It may show slight edge and fold wear, unobtrusive smudges, faint toning, light foxing, or limited pencil marks. The dust jacket has been encased in a plastic cover, and shows additional smudging, surface paper lifts, cellophane/paper tape on the front/verso, tears, minor paper loss, and significant color fading.
