Description

Dracula (Universal, 1931). Very Good/Fine on Linen. Lobby Card (11" X 14").
Already a success on Broadway as the vampire Count Dracula, Bela Lugosi nevertheless was not the early choice to play Bram Stoker's legendary villain in Universal's film version. The Hungarian actor had to work hard to win the role. Directed by Tod Browning, Bela Lugosi's performance is sensational, one all later actors aspire to, making this one of the finest horror films of all time. All material from this early masterpiece is highly prized and therefore very scarce. This ultra-rare lobby card featuring Dracula's brides, along with Lugosi, has never been offered by Heritage before. Backed on linen, the card has received expert professional restoration, having its borders and parts of the interior borders completely replaced, significant airbrushing to the borders and interior including the fireplace and the tail end of each bride's dress, and visible color touchup to the title and studio text. The linen has been trimmed to the edges of the borders.
