Description

Dracula (Universal, 1931). Very Fine+. Lobby Card (11" X 14").
Considered to be one of the best scene cards in the lobby set of this iconic horror thriller, Bela Lugosi as Count Dracula is about to put the bite into pretty young Francis Dade's (Lucy) neck! When Lon Chaney suddenly died prior to the start of filming Dracula, Carl Laemmle had to find a replacement for the famous star. Many actors were considered, but the part went to Bela Lugosi, a Hungarian actor who had been portraying Bram Stoker's undead count on the stage. He made the role his own and he is still considered the screen's greatest King of the Undead! There are only two closeup scene cards with Lugosi in this set. This card is in beautiful condition, with only very small corner bends on the left side, a pinhole in the top and bottom borders, a soft vertical bend that extends into Frances Dade's image, and a tiny bit of edge wear in the top border. The small red circle on the left border is a printing mark. Rarely offered, this marvelous card is highly desirable. Very Fine+.
