Directed by Jack Arnold, Creature from the Black Lagoon follows a team of scientists exploring the Amazon who discover a prehistoric amphibious humanoid living. The mysterious Gill-man becomes both a scientific marvel and a deadly threat as he develops a fascination with one of the expedition's members, Kay Lawrence. Shot in 3D, the film features striking underwater cinematography and a hauntingly sympathetic monster design that set it apart from earlier Universal horror classics. Blending beauty and terror, it stands as a late masterpiece of the Universal monster era. Backed to paper, the half sheet had touch up to border chips and tears, as well as creasing in the image. These issues were deftly addressed and the piece presents well.
