    Description

    The 39 Steps (Gaumont-Fox, 1935). Very Fine- on Linen. One Sheet (27" X 41").
The 39 Steps was one of director Alfred Hitchcock's first major international successes, and many of the stylistic and thematic elements that would become integral parts of his later work can be seen in this important picture. Robert Donat stars as Richard Hannay, an innocent bystander to the murder of a secret agent. When he is accused of the crime, Hannay is on the run from the police as he tries to find the real killers. The beautiful Madeleine Carroll plays Pamela, who reluctantly is trapped into helping Hannay. The secret to all of the twisting mysteries lies with Mr. Memory and the man with a missing finger. This vivid one sheet displays extraordinarily well, with remarkable color saturation and dramatic images of the stars. There has been partial restoration applied to such indications of handling as edge and fold wear, mild fold separations, minor tears, and pinholes. There was a very small chip in the top left corner, and the poster still shows some unobtrusive stains and smudges that have not been addressed. Very Fine- on Linen.
