Description

Spellbound (United Artists, R-Late 1940s). Argentinean One Sheet (29" X 43"). Hitchcock. This surreal film results from the singular collaboration among two stars (Gregory Peck and Ingrid Bergman), an auteur director (Alfred Hitchcock), a controlling producer (David O. Selznick), a respected playwright (Ben Hecht) and an iconic artist (Salvador Dali). The famous roster helped bring life to one of Hollywood's first treatments of psychoanalysis. This Argentinean one sheet thumps with dynamic, streaming color that frames the famous embrace of Gregory Peck and Ingrid Bergman. The stone lithograph process contributes to the rare artistry, making the poster as exhilaratingly unique as the film itself. The poster has fold lines and tears in the borders, but the image has been well-preserved. Half of a rubber stamp mark lies in the upper left-hand corner, most likely placed there by a government censor board. Fine+.
