Description

Spellbound (United Artists, 1945). One Sheet (27" X 41").
Alfred Hitchcock and Salvador Dali achieved something quite unique in Hollywood, they made psychoanalysis fascinating. Of course it helps a bit if you have such a talented group working with you that your film garners six Oscar nominations (winning one for Miklos Rozsa's incredible score). The poster is dramatic, yet uniquely subtle. It completely captures the central dilemma of "will he..or won't he?" The light glints from the opened razor in the foreground, hidden behind the trusting embrace of a luminous Ingrid Bergman, with her anguishing lover's head buried in her chest. You react, almost as if you are watching part of the film...that's a successful poster! An absolutely terrific grade for such a rarity. Excellent linenbacking and mild restoration was all that was needed for pinholes in the corners of the background, and minor crossfold separations. Don't miss out on a landmark title. Very Fine+ on Linen.
