Spellbound (United Artists, 1945) Half Sheet (22" X 28"). No other director captured the "psychological melodrama" genre as perfectly as Alfred Hitchcock did. With "Spellbound," the director hit a new level in depicting mental problems when he hired surrealist Salvador Dali to create the famous dream sequence. The film stars Gregory Peck as a man suffering from amnesia who impersonates the director of a posh mental asylum. Also starring is Ingrid Bergman, who plays a compassionate psychiatrist that falls in love with Peck while coming to his aid.
