    Description

    Secret Agent (Gaumont, 1936). Half Sheet (22" X 28").
Incredibly rare, this sensational half sheet is nearly impossible to find. The excellent screenplay is based on a Somerset Maugham story and is the third in Alfred Hitchcock's British spy trilogy after The 39 Steps (1935) and Sabotage (1936). Writer John Gielgud discovers that his death has been faked by the British government, and is sent on a mission with fellow agent Madeleine Carroll to kill a German spy. They encounter a hired killer known only as The General (Peter Lorre), and tourists / suspects Percy Mamont, Lilli Palmer, and Robert Young. Everyone's motives are called into question, and even those who are on the "right" side realize the consequences of their actions are not always what they intended. Prior to professional restoration, the poster had pinholes in the borders, crossfold separations, and fold wear. Due to fading, the poster's color has been enhanced through professional restoration. It now displays remarkably well and will be a prized item in any top Hitchcock collection. Very Good- on Paper.
