Description

Rebecca (United Artists, 1940). One Sheet (27" X 41").
This first American-made film from director Alfred Hitchcock earned an Academy Award for Best Picture, and solidified the director's stay in American film henceforth. Joan Fontaine, in her first major role, turns in an outstanding performance as the new wife to widower Laurence Olivier. She is pulled into a world of mystery, obsession, madness, and murder as she becomes haunted by her new husbands deceased former wife. Based on the novel by Daphne du Maurier, the successful and eerie mystery was produced by David O. Selznick. This one sheet is a favorite amongst Hitchcock collectors, as it features what many consider to be the best art of any poster from his films. Professional restoration has been done to address chips and tears in the folds and borders, including in the image and title areas. The borders have been airbrushed. The poster displays very nicely, and would make a fine addition to any Hitchcock collection. Very Good/Fine on Linen.
