    Masterfully woven together with thrills, suspense, and taboo, this Oscar nominated mystery counts as one of the highest points in Alfred Hitchcock's esteemed career. A longtime favorite actor of Hitchcock's, James Stuart expertly plays the immobilized lead character, whose nearly obsessive spying uncovers a possible murder in the neighboring apartment building. Most poignantly, his voyeurism acts as a dark reflection to that of the audience's, as they avidly watch the events unfolding on screen but are unable to act. The film also proves to be a sustained glimpse into the mind of Hitchcock himself, whose trade revolves around the constant observation of others, as well as the darkest parts of their nature. Professional restoration has addressed pinholes in the corners, small chips and tears in the folds, thin diagonal creases to the right, and misfolds at the upper vertical fold and upper right horizontal fold. There has been touchup to the folds and some paper loss in the upper right corner has been replaced. Fine+ on Linen.
