    Description

    Foreign Correspondent (Ballesteros, 1944). Very Fine+ on Linen. First Release Spanish One Sheet (28.25" X 39.5"). From the Mike Kaplan Collection.
    Once displayed in the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences Grand Lobby Gallery, Heritage is pleased to offer this poster for the first time, hailing for the Spanish release of one of Alfred Hitchcock's great espionage thrillers. Set in early-WWII England, Joel McCrea is the everyman news reporter who becomes entangled with foreign spies connected to Herbert Marshall and his daughter Laraine Day. George Sanders, as a sardonic British agent, is a nice foil to the naïve American. The film is based on Vincent Sheean's memoir, Personal History, and lost out on the Best Picture Academy Award for 1941 to another Hitchcock gem, Rebecca. Distinctive in its style, this Spanish poser has had professional touchup applied to pinholes and minor fold separations.
