    Description

    Hit-the-Trail Holliday (Artcraft, 1918). One Sheet (28.25" X 42").
One of Hollywood's biggest drinking enthusiasts, George M. Cohan, takes on the looming spectre of Prohibition with this piece of silent political satire. The title character is based off the real-life Billy Sunday, a hard-drinking baseball player turned evangelizing teetotaler. Poking fun at the famously wealthy convert, Cohan plays an abstaining bartender named Billy Holliday, whose goal is to preach against Demon Rum until he has no patrons left. The first of any paper sold by Heritage for this silent comedy, this stone litho poster has had professional restoration to fold wear, mild tears in the upper and lower borders, and a chip in the bottom border. There was paper loss along the left border going slightly into the black background at the bottom. Fine+ on Linen.

    Estimate: $1,000 - $2,000.
