DescriptionHigh Sierra (Warner Brothers, 1941). Fine/Very Fine. Linen Finish Midget Window Card (8" X 14").
This is the film that solidified Humphrey Bogart as a major star on the Warner's lot, and the actor would never have to go back to second billing. Fate intervened from the beginning, when both Paul Muni and George Raft walked away from the lead part. Instead, Bogart was cast as the gangster, Mad Dog Earle, and a legendary cinematic character was born. John Huston co-wrote the script based on W.R. Burnett's book about an aging gangster on the run from the law. Bogart played the part with gusto and with a sympathetic side that audiences had never seen in him before. The card has slight edge wear, light corner creases, and a couple of pinholes. There is some staining on the left side with two small chips. Fine/Very Fine.
Estimate: $800 - $1,600.
