    Description

Hearts in Dixie (Fox, 1929). Fine+ on Linen. One Sheet (28" X 41").
So rare we have never offered it before, this brightly-printed Art Deco one sheet is making its debut appearance at Heritage. Recognized as Hollywood's first all-singing, all-dancing talkie with an all-black cast, this picture first began production as a short subject, but was later expanded to full feature length. Clarence Muse may have played the lead role in the film, but it was Stepin Fetchit who stole the spotlight as Muse's good-for-nothing son-in-law. Fetchit would go on to stardom playing the same stereotypical characterization of a slow-witted, jive-talking, lazy black man in the rest of his comedies. Benefitting from professional restoration, this vibrant stone litho poster has received corrections to edge and fold wear, pinholes, moderate tears, and small chips. Also addressed was some paper loss in the upper left border extending slightly into the background. Still visible are a few faint stains and smudges in the borders, as well as soft toning.
