DescriptionHallelujah! (MGM, 1929). CGC Graded Lobby Cards (2) (27" X 41").
One of the very first all-black films ever produced by a major studio, a risky venture for its time period. The filming and release of the picture was not without travails, incurring resistance from both sides of the Mason-Dixon line. Big theaters were concerned about the crowd the film would draw, and it wasn't until independent exhibitors screened the picture, attracting mixed audiences, that the larger players got on board. One card is graded 9.2 and the other has a grade of 7.0, they have an average grade of Very Fine.
Estimate: $1,500 - $3,000.
