Description
Gone with the Wind (MGM, 1939). Poster (44.5" X 64.5").Advertised in the original campaign press book for the release of David O. Selznick's classic telling of the Margaret Mitchell best seller, this 40" X 60" was called a "Flexible Accessory." The poster features Clark Gable and Leslie Howard and another was produced picturing Vivien Leigh and Olivia DeHavilland. They were intended to be mounted on composition board and used as standees or to be mounted on theater walls or in frames. The poster has wear to both vertical borders with more chipping in the left border and a tear into Gable's lower jacket. There are some tears and crimps in the upper and lower border leading well into the white background. There is a chip in Howard's right lower pant leg as well as some more minor crimps within his image. There is significant airbrush work within the outer borders and into the white background. This is a very rare poster as most likely all copies were used and discarded as was their intended use. Fine+ on Linen.
