Go West (MGM, 1940). Very Good on Linen. Autographed One Sheet (27" X 41") Style D. Al Hirschfeld Artwork.
As was common for the Marxian films of the time, Go West was a solid 10th comedy for the Marx Brothers, offering plenty in the way of wild action and jokes. Groucho is introduced as S. Quentin Quale a wily con man westward-bound to find his fortune in gold, and it isn't long until Harpo and Chico join up to make their own fortune by making off with all of Quale's money. With legendary funnyman Buster Keaton on hand to help write the gags, this film is exactly the kind of zany, madcap romp you would expect from dropping the Marx Brothers into the Old West, punching hard with a thrilling and hilarious climax. Featuring the iconic caricatures of the brothers by legendary artist Al Hirschfeld, this poster easily portrays the fun, adventurous nature of this comedic trip back in time. Signed by actor Walter Woolf King, this rare one sheet has benefitted from conservation to edge and fold wear, fold separations, tears into the interior, and pinholes. Also addressed was paper loss mainly in the edges and folds. There are a few light smudges still visible. Parts of the white background, some of the red credits, and the title have been airbrushed. After these corrections, the poster displays very well. The linen has been trimmed nearly to the borders.
