Description

Girls for Sale (Bud Pollard Productions, 1930s). Jumbo Window Card (21.25" X 27.5").
With a title as scintillating as this, this German film by director Hans Steinhoff and augmented for US release by Bud Pollard has a plot exactly as advertised. Based on Norbert Jacques' novel Plüsch und Plümowski, this silent melodrama tells the tale of girls lured into slavery with the promise of becoming professional dancers, then shipped off to a brothel in Brazil. This early window card from the original US release has edge wear, creases, tears at the top, surface paper loss at the bottom and in the interior, and staining at the top. Fine+
