DescriptionGimme Shelter (Cinema 5, 1970). Fine/Very Fine on Linen. Half Subway (29.5" X 44").
The Maysles Brothers turned their powerful lens on the last weeks of The Rolling Stones legendary 1969 American tour. Tina and Ike Turner make memorable appearances, along with Jefferson Airplane and the Flying Burrito Brothers. Unfortunately the tour will always be associated with the disaster at Altamont, when the band's Hells Angels security guards got into an altercation with an armed fan. A young George Lucas was credited as a camera operator at the concert, although none of his footage ended up being used in the final cut of the film. This half subway is an uncommon format for this title, and features the rare "photo montage" style. Partial touchup has addressed fold wear and some separation, with additional touchup at the lower crossfold. There are staple holes, one of which is slightly torn. The linen has some mild warping. Fine/Very Fine on Linen.
Estimate: $1,000 - $2,000.
